What a week! Whatever I did to my leg last year has healed enough, allowing me to drive again. Of course, now I can be behind the wheel once more, the garage door motor breaks. The door doesn’t approve of manual opening and closing. It wants to stay on the upper side of the tracks once it’s lifted. Yay. -_-. Since, I had to argue with it, and force it down, I exposed myself to lots of dust, cobwebs, and other things to make my sinuses angry. Hopefully, it won’t turn into a sinus infection! New glasses are ordered and I’m waiting impatiently for them. Oh, and I decided to change web hosts.

I’ve had the original blog running for about two years now. Last year, I decided to give the whole thing an official presence, and bought the domain richardshoptaw.com and turned my freebie Wix blog into a full-fledged web site. It was a wonderful plan at the time. I knew jack squat about hosting, costs, or building a site. That ignorance persisted until two weeks ago when I received my renewal fee from Wix.

I laughed as I read the price. Oh, there was plenty of laughter. Disbelief and digging out old receipts followed the giggles. After a tad bit of frustration, and a steadily growing unwillingness to dish out the amount they wanted, I began to research alternatives. Guess what! They are plenty of them. They even cost significantly less, but they require one to be a bit savvier to the ebb and flow of web site building and such.

After spending a week of researching alternate hosting services, I found one which suits my budget and needs. For now, I’m using a freebie template, which I have to say, looks a lot nicer than the previous site. I will be moving my older blog entries over here within the next few days. I will be adding a Books and News page as well. Then! ::cue dramatic music:: I will attempt to create my own set up without using freebie templates. Site building and HTML have always interested me and now is a good time to start a new hobby.

As always, the art work that isn’t the Dawné Dominique cover has been provided by the eternally talented Helen Bennett. In addition to learning the technical side of hosting, I hope to resurrect my own skills with pencils, and add some of my own original art as well. Thank you to everyone I spoke with on finding the right hosting alterative! Lastly and most important: Welcome to my new blog. 😀
